Straw
Bonnet-Making Workshop
Course Description
Here is a special opportunity
to learn how to make your own authentically constructed and decorated
straw bonnet using patterns and techniques that are found in period
manuals, fashion magazines and on historic bonnets from the early 19th
century.
You will learn the basic techniques
of how to make and trim a sewn straw bonnet. Starting with the
ready-made plait (braided straw), you will learn how to sew it into
the bonnet shape; how to stiffen, wire and finish the bonnet blank and
finally; how to line and decorate your finished bonnet.
Small class size (6 minimum

You will also have access to an extensive library of reference material.
